Don’t be an Idol, just be good

Our interest in this season of American Idol dwindled off, since the cast of contestants had Melinda in it. We knew that regardless of who won the show, she would be the one to make it big. None of the other contestants impressed us anywhere near as much. To me, American Idol isn’t as much a contest as it is a showcase of upcoming talent. That’s why in the end, it doesn’t matter who wins. After the show is over, the contestants still have to stand on their own merits. The Idols may fall, but the truly talented will always be so.

Here’s my favorite performance. My Funny Valentine is one of my favorite songs, and Melinda does it proud.

  1. I’m with you on this one, Derek. Melinda was, by far, the best singer Idol has ever had. I loved seeing her sing with Gladys Knight, who Melinda reminds me so much of!

  2. I happened to THINK of you two..and wondered how you are !
GOOD, I see 🙂 I remembered where to LOOK ! 🙂 HA! HERE YOU “IS”!! 🙂
I LOVED Melinda…head and hands above the rest ! I can’t wait to hear her first album. I sat there one night listening to her sing a song I had never heard before..and yet…with her abilities, it ALREADY sounded like a favorite song with the her last note ! She IS incredibly MULTI talented. She sings…instead of screeching and hollering…a technique Jordan (and others) needs to learn to sustain a career. Maybe she will in another 12 years…she’s too young to “get it”. Mr. Beat Boxer…if only he could sing HALF so well as he “entertains”. 😉
