MY Take on Lotusphere

Let me first say that I am very thankful for Praxair and my Husband’s job. πŸ˜€

While waiting for my Husband, Derek (in case you didn’t know πŸ˜‰ ) to come out of conferences, I always felt out of place. Here I was the ONLY person amidst 6,000 without a cool backpack, tags hanging from my neck (pen included), a laptop or Treo. I was the one in jeans and a t-shirt wearing a pink Disney hat that says ‘PRINCESS’. Everyone was looking at me strangely and I felt like I didn’t belong. I actually took out my cell phone at one point and called Derek just to be amongst the 1,500 people surrounding me who were talking on one. I was surprized when I actually got service. πŸ™‚

One thing I was amazed at, was that there were no accidents while I stood there. You see, at Lotusphere, it is imperative that you have gear. Like I said before, laptop, cellphone/Treo. When you come out of the conference room where you have most likely been for 3 hours or more and step out into the bright warm Florida sunshine you MUST immeidately take out your cell phone/Treo and begin pressing buttons. I swear I did not see many people breathing in the warm Florida air and looking at where they were going. NO. They all had their heads down looking at some piece of machinery.

I also head comments like “Too much information!! My head hurts!!!” When you go inside the conference area, there are people LINING the walls on the floor with laptop’s open. I walked into the lobby of the Dolphin, where it is absolutely beautiful with a fountain and everything and found people there sitting on the fountain with their laptop’s open. ARRGG!!!!

It really was a wonderful trip, just next time, I am going to rent a laptop so I can see what in the world is so interesting! Besides the scenery, beaches, pools, palm trees, boats and of course, Mickey Mouse. πŸ˜‰
