Downtime day
Our first major holiday gathering at the new home was very successful. The weather was cooperative and everyone was able to make it out here to the hills. We had a fire going in the fireplace all day long. Amanda roasted a a perfect roast, in a way that even my father the “Meat Specialist” hadn’t seen before – in an oven bag with Lipton Onion Soup Mix to seal in the moisture. Polish sausage, everyone’s favorite green bean bake, and a sweet potato w/marshmallow bake rounded out the menu.
This was the first combined Christmas party with both Amanda and my family, which made the steal-a-gift game more fun, having more people. As always, bottles of booze had the highest desired value and were the most frequently swiped gift. Some people went home with, perhaps, not an item they would have picked for themselves, but hopefully my uncle finds some usefulness out of his beauty kit 3-pack.
Today, I woke up wondering what project to tackle with my day off. Flopped in front of the TV, I decided the most ambitious task I may attempt will be to assemble the wine rack from my inlaws. It’s a good day for some downtime, and I’m going to do as little as possible. Guilt amount? Very slight.
Hope your holiday was as pleasant as ours!
