Buffalo makes the Fortune 500

In case you were getting depressed by statistics about Buffalo, like population loss, tax rates, and politician approval ratings, here’s one to rejoice: Buffalo now has it’s first Fortune 500 company. M&T Bank moved it’s way up into slot number 496 of the Fortune 500, moving up from 519th place in 2006’s more expansive Fortune 1000. New York state claims more Fortune 500 companies than any other – 57 in total – but M&T is Buffalo’s first company to make the list.

I like to think it’s because Amanda started working there last year, but regardless of the reason, it’s a good thing for Buffalo. Congrats to M&T!
