Flipped is a success!

Congratulations to Michele, Marc, and everyone who made Flipped possible! Amanda and I saw the second screening tonight, and it is a very well done film. I was glad to see that it wasn’t over-dramatized, and really just let the issue speak for itself, which was powerful enough.

Sam Hoyt said in the film that property flipping can occur because it’s underregulated, if you can believe that anything in New York is underregulated. But he made the point that in New York, if you sell more than five vehicles per year, you need to be licensed, yet no similar requirement exists for selling property. Judge Nowak said in the panel discussion afterwards that new legislation needs to come from the state level, since the state controls property transaction law. Write your state legislators and encourage them to enact legislation that will help curb this issue and prevent the further decline of our city!

The premiere also gave me the opportunity to meet a few people in person that I’ve only interacted with online, including Michele, BuffaloPundit, BuffaloGeek, and Judge Nowak. Great meeting you all!
