Flipped!

WOW!! What an awesome documentary! Kudos to all who made it happen, especially Michele! Watching this gave me all sorts of emotions. I was shocked at what I was seeing, not believing that this actually goes on in the place where I live and have called home for so many years. It made me think, maybe we should move away, this is not someplace that seems like it will last much longer anyway. But when you look around and realize you are surrounded by people who want to make a difference in the place they live, my next thought was, ‘Join in the fight! Make it work and happen for our city!!’

I am saddened by the fact that these conditions exsist. Those homes could have been something more than an eyesore and a hangout for the unsavory. It really does make your jaw drop when you see some of the pictures and hear the stories.
I am angered by those who do not understand the feeling of working for something and achieving that goal. Who take advantage of others for their own gain. Those out there who want to make a quick buck and be rich. I mean, wouldn’t EVERYONE be doing it if it was SOOOO easy? They do not care who they trample on to get what they want, do not see the repercussions of their greed. That extends to government as well. I feel badly for those now stuck on streets run down and dangerous with no easy way out. They ARE the true victims.

So what can we do? How much can we attain to make change happen here? So many people talk about it and TRULY want things to be better here, I saw that tonight and I KNOW it is seen on other occasions throughout the city. How can our voice be heard? I personally am ready to stand up, but what can I do to be more vocal with no real knowledge of politics or the ‘savvy’ needed? There are ways to change the tide out there. We just have to be strong enough to keep at it until it is done.
