Central Terminal 2006 Schedule of Events
I sent out this press release yesterday and Buffalo Rising picked it up immediately. I forgot about posting it here, but since other bloggers are picking up on it now…
The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) is pleased to announce our 2006 schedule of events. Returning this year is our Ninth Annual Spring Cleanup, the Student Celebration of the Visual Arts Show, and our big hit from 2005 – Picnic on the Plaza: Oktoberfest! New this year is our first ever Model Train Show, complete with operating display layouts and Thomas the Tank Engine, and a Classic & Custom Car Show being held in conjunction with Lakeside Classic Cruisers.
We are also pleased to announce that for the first time ever, the Buffalo Central Terminal will host the annual Buffalo Brewfest, with proceeds to benefit Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center and the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation.
The complete events schedule is as follows:
UB Senior Thesis Art Show – April 23, 2pm-6pm – Show opening
9th Annual Spring Clean Up – May 6 & 7, 9am-1pm – A whole weekend of cleaning up the Central Terminal and grounds. Help us prepare for the 2006 season. Come one day, come both days, all are welcome. We will be working inside and out depending on weather. Gloves recommended, and tools always welcome. Food and drink will be available.
2nd SVCA Student Art Show – May 20 & 21 – The Williamsville Art Teachers of the SCVA (Student Celebration of the Visual Arts) and the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) will be displaying student submissions of painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. Food and beverages will be for sale.
Work Party at Central Terminal – July 15, 9am-1pm – Come help out the CTRC by assisting on small projects and repairs in the building. All are welcome to attend.
Cruise Into The Past Car Show – July 22, 2pm-6pm – The CTRC and Lakeside Classic Cruisers in conjunction with the East Side Car Club are pleased to announce that they will be co-hosting a classic and custom car show at the Central Terminal. Along with the beautiful cars to see, there will be food, beverages and entertainment from the Colored Musicians Club!
“Theatre At The Terminal” – August 12, 13, 19, 20, times TBD – Join us for Theatre at the Terminal by Torn Space Productions. Details to come.
Buffalo Central Terminal First Annual Train Show – September 10, 10am-4pm – Join us for our first annual train show. Adults:$5.00, Children (3-12): $2.00, Family:$10.00 (2 adults & 2 kids). Attractions include:
* Operating Train Layouts for all the family to enjoy.
* Craftsmans Corner, to learn new ways to improve your layout.
* Children’s play area with Thomas the Tank.
* Door Prizes & Refreshments.
* Videos, DVDs, Books & Photographs that have any thing to do with Trains.
* Sale of Trains and their accessories for all size layouts & collectors.Buffalo Brewfest – September 16, 2pm-7pm – Come spend the afternoon tasting beer from local breweries, food, entertainment, and more.
Picnic on the Plaza IV: Oktoberfest – September 23, 6pm-12am – Celebrate the first day of autumn in traditional Munich style! Enjoy an evening of music in the concourse “beer garden” with Western New York’s most in-demand German band, the Frankfurters! Choices of beer, food, soft drinks and merchandise will be available. Guests in costume get in for free!

Preservation Coalition 2006 tours – All tours start at 11 am and are approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours in length. The Tours are run by the Buffalo and Erie County Preservation Coalition. For reservations or questions contact 716-849-4222
