I love it when spammers are too stupid for their own good and screw up their garbage. Abel Vang wants us to know about “Brand Name Watches at Basement Prices” but only manages to get this out… Lois http://%OBSCURE Abel Vang Damn, Abel. I was so excited to FINALLY be able to find where those…
Another great article on Buffalo Rising, this time showing just how little of the core of downtown has actually been preserved since circa 1960. The fact is, one of the few bright spots in Buffalo’s economy has been the power of the city’s high quality historic architecture and a recent wave of restorations to stimulate…
As promised in a previous post, I wrote a letter to the editor of The Sun in response to their editorial on tearing down the Skyway. There it was today, filling up a huge section of the editorial page. Reprinted here: Editor, The Sun: The Skyway has certainly become a hot topic since waterfront development…
A couple Darwin Awards came up that Buffalo’s scavengers should take notice of. First, Steel is Gold: Steel is valuable, especially the high grade alloy used in steel cable. Scrap metal dealers do not ask questions. They pay in cash. And a good supply of cables can be found in elevator shafts. This particular goldmine…
Found this thing hanging around our deck over the weekend. I assumed it was a butterfly, but Amanda insists it’s a moth. I love the antennae!
Welcome to our good friend, Michele Johnson, to the blogosphere! Her new blog, News From A Broad, will surely be interesting reading as she details her daily dealings from the East Side (and more).
Hi! I write you for different reasons. The first one to tell you I enjoyed your pics from Belgium. I went there last year and I think it’s an awesome place. The other reason is because we share the same lastname, this is: Punaro. I am mexican, and back there all the people that share this lastname are the descendents of the late Mr. José Asuncion Punaro (this is my grandfather from my mother’s side). The funny thing is that we don’t know the origen of the Punaro name. So, each time I have a chance, I seach to see if by any chance I find a clue. Some time ago I was told it is from northen Italy. Do you have an idea? Thank and hope you don’t bother for using this space that I imagine it’s reserved for your family and close friends.
The name does originate in Italy. Somewhere, I have some images of Ellis Island records of my ancestors coming over to the U.S. I’ll post them when I have a chance. I do not know where the Mexican branch would have started!
