Absurdity in Washington

The absurdity of appointing someone to become Treasury Secretary who can’t figure out how to pay their taxes correctly seems to be lost on most of America. I mean, this is “Change we can believe in?” How does failing to correctly pay your income taxes not once, not twice, not three times, but four times [that we know of] not immediately disqualify you for that position?

If Obama’s recent round of appointments isn’t an argument for the FairTax, I don’t know what one is. If the person in charge of the Treasury can’t do it right, then the tax code needs to be drastically simplified. Otherwise, he’s just a lying crook.

  1. While I agree that it is dissappointing that the Treasury Secretary has made mistakes in the past, I do not believe that you can undermine the president’s entire campaign. Nor do I think we need to rip apart the constitution to correct the problem as stated in the FAIRTAX proposal.

Unfortunately, for far too long politics and government has been corrupt. This only leaves a small pool of people who can manipulate the system while still working towards the goals of an administration. This administration is likely to be the first to send federal dollars to WNY area business’s since FDR. Clearly with the stock market dropping to record lows, anything different than current policies are worth trying.
