This election cycle for me is about voting against the candidates and the things I don’t like about the political process. I’m not excited about any of the possible candidates in any of the races, frankly. So here’s my anticipated rundown…
- NYS Governor: NOT Spitzer. I hate how he’s been annointed Governor since before the Democratic primary, and Tom Suozzi was the one candidate I actually liked. Not to mention that “Savior Spitzer” seems to have forgotton the half of his job that involves fighting corruption in government. I’m thinking of voting for Malachy McCourt based on BuffaloGeek’s suggestion to help try and keep another party in the game.
- NYS Comptroller: NOT Hevesi. Hevesi is a scumbag, lowest of the low, money-grabbing, let’s-see-how-much-I-can-get-away-with-without-getting-caught politician, and that’s the worst kind.
- NYS Assembly, 146th District: NOT Quinn. I respect Max Tresmond for actually getting on the web to discuss his platform on SpeakupWNY.com and for the fact that he’s got enough balls to jump into a state government race at 18 years old. Let’s face it – there don’t seem to really BE any qualifications to be a state legislator, so I’ll take a chance with a math major at U.B. Besides, I think there’s probably a bit of truth that Quinn Jr. is riding the coattails of Quinn Sr. We’ve had enough of that at all levels of government.
- U.S. House, 27th District: NOT Higgins. Shit, I don’t even know if anyone’s running against him, but I still get the distinct feeling that he legislates by press conference and isn’t working nearly as hard as he claims. Thanks again for locking us into another long term deal with the hella-corrupt NYS Power Authority for a few bucks.
- U.S. Senate: NOT Clinton. car·pet·bag·ger – 2 : OUTSIDER; especially : a nonresident or new resident who seeks private gain from an area often by meddling in its business or politics
There you have it. My personal list of people I won’t be voting for. Happy election day!
Yep, that sounds just about right to me…
