The mystery of the missing mousetrap

October 31, 2006 at 6:07 pm by Derek

Someone call the Hardly Boys! After my Saturday adventures in the attic, I picked up two mouse traps from Home Depot, baited them with peanut butter, and stuck them in the attic. Monday evening there were two dead mice in the attic. I disposed of them and reset the traps. Went [...]

Good TV. Better TV. Dead TV.

While out in the Boston hills yesterday getting some apples and pumpkins, we thought we might try and pick up a geocache. We didn’t find it, but we did find the newest feature in burial luxury:

No toll, but surely slow!

October 30, 2006 at 5:46 pm by Derek

Well, it certainly felt good to not have the EZPass log another toll for me on my way home today, but it certainly made for one heck of a traffic slowdown! Heading southbound at the Black Rock barrier, only the left two toll lanes remained open, which is fine because those were the two [...]

Ding dong the tolls are dead!

October 30, 2006 at 11:51 am by Derek

Yes, it’s true! All the Buffalo-area news sources are reporting that the I-190 tolls are no longer – and for good! The booths themselves are supposed to come down next year.
As someone who takes the 190 daily (although I only pay in one direction) this will personally save me quite a bit of [...]

Hey! What’s up?

I haven’t been posting much lately, and since this is the first chance I’ve had to take a lunch break this week, I decided now is a good time for a general update.
Frankly, I’m in a lull lately. There just hasn’t been much going on and that’s both good and bad. Good because [...]

Just call me Mr. Derp

October 23, 2006 at 10:48 pm by Derek

Mondays are why they invented coffee, and sometimes I should have multiple cups before laying hands on the keyboard.
My supervisor is on vacation this week, so it is a particularly good time to NOT cause any major catastrophes. As I eased into the morning, I needed to take a glance at our agent log [...]

Internet Explorer 7 released

October 19, 2006 at 9:39 am by Derek

Today marks the day that Microsoft launches Internet Explorer 7 – their first major browswer update in five years. You would think that since they’ve spent so much time working on it, it would be pretty damn outstanding, right? My experience so far says no.
I ran the update this morning, which I have [...]

Buffalo <> New Orleans

October 19, 2006 at 7:24 am by Derek

How pathetic it was to hear Congressman Higgins whining about FEMA like Ray Nagin. I mean, come on. The last thing we want to do is compare our little snowstorm to friggin’ Hurricane Katrina. So, we had a lot of power outages and fallen trees and some flooded basements. Hardly a [...]
