Bring It Back To Life show @ Club Paradise

February 27, 2006 at 9:36 pm by Derek

Amanda and I met up with John, Lauren, Chris, Allison, Suzy, Dave, and Sue and went to the Bring It Back To Life show Saturday night. Also spotted were Steven and RagingTaxpayer from SpeakupWNY.com. The show was great as always. The crowd size was a bit disappointing.
We got to talk to Christina [...]

Higgins misplaces testicles, blames businesses

February 24, 2006 at 12:29 pm by Derek

Christina Abt posted this article on BuffaloPundit’s site about Brian Higgins’ self-back-patting session in Eden yesterday.
Higgins agrees with those who say the settlement was not enough. He also agrees that there is much more to be mined. However, at this point, the Congressman notes that it is going to take greater pressure by a more [...]

QuickPlace upgrade, post-op day 3

February 23, 2006 at 11:58 am by Derek

After my weekend in front of the computer, I’ve been trying to stay away as much as possible. But I’m sure some of the Lotus readers are interested in an update… so… after three days in operation there have been no reported issues! One of my placetypes ended up with a couple conflict [...]

Quickplace upgrade, hour 71

February 20, 2006 at 3:29 pm by Derek

Well, I finally finished going through all the QuickPlaces removing conflict docs. This brings the QuickPlace upgrade to a close…. or does it? Well it would, but it seems that somewhere along the line the address book on our production internet server decided to play hide and seek with some of our [...]

Quickplace upgrade, hour 65

February 20, 2006 at 10:06 am by Derek

Well, the overnight design refresh pushed my agent into all of the places on the server, so that’s good. I’ve decided not to risk modifying the agent to automatically delete the conflict docs, so I’m going into each place one-by-one and running the agent to select the docs, then deleting them with a quick [...]

QuickPlace upgrade, hour 53

February 19, 2006 at 10:18 pm by Derek

All the QuickPlace functionality is working, but somehow my two existing PlaceTypes ended up with save/replication conflicts in them, which promptly caused them to be inherited into most of my places. My first shot at creating an agent to delete them deleted all the docs in the QDK view, which kills the place completely. [...]

QuickPlace upgrade, hour 39

February 19, 2006 at 7:57 am by Derek

Wow, some of these tasks take forever to run. Our server has somewhere around 260 places and 18 gigs of data. It took three hours to run “upgrade -server” and 9.5 hours to run “upgrade -a”. I’m on to “register -install -a” now, but like most of the process I start a [...]

Winter Blahs

February 18, 2006 at 10:00 pm by Amanda

It comes around this time of the year when the weather is too cold, or not snowy enough to go skiing that I start to think about summer. Last year we took an outstanding vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and have gone camping in the past as well. And [...]

Smooth sailing over the Skyway

February 17, 2006 at 3:06 pm by Derek

100+ schools closed because of high winds. Surely the Skyway must have been closed, right? Nope. Sorry, folks.
To be fair, it was closed for about an hour earlier in the week in one direction only because of a fender bender. That’s the first time this winter.

A project 3.3 years in the making

February 17, 2006 at 12:06 pm by Derek

So, this is the weekend where I finally get to upgrade our internal Lotus QuickPlace environment (a system which I’m responsible for) to the semi-current 6.5.x release. We’re still running the ancient 2.0.8 version, which has been out of support for eons already. I wrote my original plan to upgrade this system to [...]
